The Higher Education Centre of the Italian Salesian Institute (Don Bosco) offers a vocational and technical training scholarship “sunrise 2021” linked to the labour market as well as enabling TVET trainees to obtain successful employment opportunities – by providing access to the labour market, entrepreneurship workshops, and valuable linkages – to facilitate their transition to formal and informal job markets.

The scholarship targets both refugees and vulnerable Egyptians residing in Greater Cairo who are over 16 years old but no more than 45 years old in order to help them achieve economic independence for themselves and their families, which can be achieved by enhancing livelihoods, economic empowerment (with a focus on women’s empowerment), and wellness opportunities.

In addition, the project aims to improve the lives of the beneficiaries through coordinated health, nutrition and wellness activities. Through the provision of the following services:

Medical screening and referrals

Life skills sessions

TVET courses

Cash interventions

The grant provides training in various fields such as “child and elderly care – sewing – advanced” English – auto mechanics – electronics – AutoCAD – lathe – electricity and general installations – automatic control – PLC numerical control – air conditioning and cooling – welding oxygen, and welding High pressure petroleum pipes and argon welding – automatic full washing machine maintenance – carpentry making doors – and makeup coiffure.

The institute requires the following criteria to select applicants:

Age – from 16 to 45.

Nationality (Sudan-South Sudan –Yemenis, Eritrea –

Somalia- Ethiopia- Egyptian).

Only one member from each family could be accepted

in the scholarship.

The scholarship is allowed only for the applicants who

didn’t have the scholarship before.

Documents Needed:

UNHCR card (original and copy) or a passport

(original and copy) for refugees and ID for

Egyptians

Copy from the last educational certificate the

applicant received.

Recommendation letter

Please attach these documents when applying in the

registration form

Note:

Refugees who do not have an UNHCR ID must bring

the white certificate they have from the UNHCR office.
